Hello, my name is Avni. I understand that when you are considering counselling, it is about taking that step to reach out for support. That step is daunting for some and easier for others, as we are all different. But taking that step, can be life changing!
Thinking about finding the” right” counsellor is equally confusing. I hope my website will answer some of your questions and help you gain more of an understanding of what counselling is, the kind of counsellor I am and how I can help you.
I understand that sometimes you can experience unmanageable thoughts and/or feelings. It happens to everyone at some point. You may feel stuck, embarrassed or feel uncomfortable telling someone you know, or that person close to you is struggling to understand and listen to you. It could be that the person you usually turn to is just too close to the events or you may not want to worry them. This can often lead to feelings of sadness, isolation, confusion, depression, anxiety, fear or anger. This is when talking therapy; counselling is an option.
Talking to someone who is a trained counsellor, who is wholly impartial and really listens to you with no judgement can leave you feeling like a big weight has been lifted. Someone that can support you in staying with your feelings and exploring them in a safe and manageable way, can help you untangle some confusion that life can bring.
This is my view of counselling and at the heart of how I work as a counsellor.
That feeling of not feeling right and wanting to talk it through with someone who is impartial, is something that should not be ignored.
You may have spoken to someone before or, kept it to yourself and never opened up about it so feel helpless and unsure of what to do. So, now could be the right time to prioritise yourself and get support for these difficult and painful emotions and to start the journey of understanding, processing, and finding some inner peace.
Putting yourself first can be very difficult but that initial step often turns out to be the most rewarding.
“Everything feels too much.”
“I’m finding it difficult to make sense of things.”
“I’m not even sure why I’m feeling like this.”
“Why can’t I get what’s happened out of my head.”
“What’s wrong with me."
“I just don’t feel right.”
“I’m fed up with feeling like this.”
"Why can’t I be happy.”
"My brain never stops; I can’t switch off.”
I am based in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands and offer face to face and online counselling sessions. I am a qualified counsellor and have experience of working with adults from a range of communities and backgrounds.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw from a variety of counselling theories and use an array of tools and approaches to best suit you. This means I tailor make the sessions according to your needs.
I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for you to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I am trained to help you to do this and to explore it in an empathic way. I will treat you respectfully and work at a pace you are comfortable; with the aim to empower you.
Counselling is an opportunity for you to feel heard, supported and gain a sense of self and clarity of what has been going on for you as we work towards your goals.
I believe that we both bring expertise to the table. You are an expert on yourself and your life and I bring my counselling skills, experience and training. This combination is key in your counselling journey.
Research clearly suggests that a good relationship between you and your counsellor is most important for a positive outcome, so it's important to listen to your instinct.
As an accredited registrant member of the National counselling and Psychotherapy society, I adhere to their code of ethics. I also have an enhanced DBS certificate.
I offer face to face sessions as well as sessions online. I have experience of working with clients with a variety of issues. So, whatever it is that is concerning you, put yourself first, and reach out for support. Remember: You are important! You are a priority!

I offer a free initial telephone consultation.
Each counselling session lasts for 50 minutes and will usually take place on a weekly basis. The cost per session is £45.
I also have some slots available at a concessionary rate of £35 for students, key workers and those on low income. These spaces are limited and in demand, so I have a waiting list system in place.
Regularity and continuity are important in therapy, as they support the therapeutic process.
Please get in touch if you have any questions or to arrange an initial free consultation. The therapeutic relationship is an important part of therapy, so this will give us the opportunity to discuss what brings you to counselling and get a sense of whether we are the right fit for each other.
You can call me on 07400 674620 or 0121 682 2977. Alternatively you can contact me via email. I am happy to answer any queries, concerns or questions you may have about the process prior to booking a session with me.

Please let me know if, to protect your confidentiality, you wish for me to refrain from saying anything other than my name and that I called on your voicemail. If even this is inappropriate, then please let me know.
